Mortensen’s
Johanna loves the Napoleon Hat cookies. Quinn loves a cherry danish. Go in, order them both, and let the staff know we sent you. Full disclosure, they’ll have no idea who we are and they won’t care, but it would make us laugh. 1588 Mission Drive, Solvang.
Global Gardens
Buffalo has wings. Chicago has deep dish. Los Olivos has olive oil. Stop by this charming, 3 acre mini farm that produces organic virgin olive oil that’ll change your life. If wine tastings aren’t your thing, call ahead to try an olive oil tasting. This place is what the inside of Johanna’s brain probably looks like. 2450 Alamo Pintado Road, Los Olivos.
take a walk
Just walk all around this Danish storybook town and try things! Wine tastings. Candy Tastings. Sausage tastings. You name it. Solvang’s got it. Take a stroll into a bookstore or the Hans Christian Andersen Museum. Buy an antique. But don’t eat those.
Bob’s Well Bread
Located directly across the street from the Ballard Inn, this place screams Johanna and her best friend Oprah. Quinn also had an incredible breakfast sandwich there that he almost married instead of his human bride. Come for the delicious treats and stay to see all of the famous people who moved out of LA. 2449 Baseline Avenue, Ballard.
Bar Le Côté
Do you like seafood? Well, if you said yes, you’ll have one of the best meals of your life here. That’s a J&Q (patent pending) guarantee. It’s very laid back and not stuffy at all. They’re fully aware of how delicious the food and drinks are and the staff seems genuinely excited for you to be there. C’mon, peel some shrimp for once in your life! 2375 Alamo Pintado Avenue, Los Olivos.
Quicksilver Ranch
Miniature horses. Enough said. We’re unsure if you’re allowed to pet them, but it didn’t stop Johanna. Quinn wasn’t the biggest fan of horses until he met these gorgeous specimens. Certainly worth a peek. 1555 Alamo Pintado Road, Solvang.
